FAITH & WORKS

Text: James 2:14-26

There is a great difference between having faith and having a belief. Believing a thing doesn't necessarily result in having faith in that thing.
You can believe in a thing, and not necessarily take any action on what you believe, but you can't have faith and not do someting about what you believe.
Believing is good but faith is better
There are times believing is not enough.
There are some issues of life that will require more than your belief for things to happen.
Many believe in God but few truly have faith in God. Our Lord Jesus made it clear that it was not enough to believe in God but we have to have faith in God.
Faith is a step ahead of belief. James 2:19

Believing does not always lead to action, but faith is an action.
Our text shows us that true faith will be accompanied by works. Your works refer to your action.
God expects us to move from a mere believing in His Word to faith in His Word which means to act on His Word.
The blessing is in the doing, not just the knowing
The more you do with what you know the further you will go.
Many christians mistake their belief for faith.
Your belief is not your faith, they are two separate things.
Your belief can turn into your faith.
Believing preceeds faith. You have to believe before you can have faith.
When your belief is expressed in action, when your belief leads you to do something about what you believe then you are operating in faith.

Every hero of faith demonstrated their faith by what they did. Hebrew 11
Abraham believed God could raise Isaac from the dead, that's why he was willing to journey for three days to a mountain where he would kill his beloved son for God.
Demons believe in God but they don't have faith in God, they are not capable of having faith in God and that's why they envy our faith and constantly attack it.
Believing in a thing doesn't mean you trust that thing.

Faith implies trust.
You can believe in the government of your country but not have faith in the government of your country.
It's great you believe in God but do you have faith in God?
Faith in God, leads to obeying God.
True faith is rare, believing is common.
Anyone can believe but not everyone uses faith.
You may believe in this ministry, but do you have faith in this ministry?
You may believe in your Pastor but do you have faith in him as a man of God?
You may believe your cildren have gifts and talents but do you have faith that they will make it?
If you have faith they will make it, you won't have a problem investing in them, paying their school fees, and doing everything in your power to see that they succeed.
If you have faith in a business, you won't have an issue buying shares in that business.
If you have faith in the ministry you are part of, you wont have to be forced, cased about and advised before joining a department, supporting the ministry with offerings, contributing and blessing the brethren.
Jesus asked an important question-"However, when the Son of man comes will He find faith on the earth? Luke 18:8
As you take steps of faith God will honor you.
As you act on the Word of God you believe in, God will prosper you. Matthew 15:28

There is nothing that impressed Jesus when He was on earth more than faith. Jesus always responded to faith.
Since God is the same yesterday, today and forever He is still in the business of honoring our faith. Matthew 9:2
As you use your faith, the enemy will try to attack you with doubt, don't be distracted and don't fall for the attacks of the enemy. Matthew 14:31
As you use your faith exploits will follow you. Matthew 17:20

How to release your faith:
1) through your words: Your words must come from the heart. Psalms 81:10, Genesis 1
2) by your actions: James 2:17, Galatians 5:6
3) through a point of contact: Acts 19:11-12, James 5:14, John 9:6

Your Father Hears

Matthew 6:5,6 Prayer should be directed to the Father. Jesus showed this when He taught His disciples the Lord's prayer. It should be a great comfort to you to know that the creator and God of all hears you when you pray. This should encourage you to pray and keep praying. In our day to day relationships with people our communication will reduce towards those who don't pay attention when we're talking to them. The good thing about God is that He is never distracted. Know you have His attention when you pray . He can be communicated with. He hears, He created the ears. Psalm 94:9 Jesus encouraged prayer. Matthew 26:40 Jesus taught prayer. Luke 11:1,2 If Jesus prayed, you will need to pray. Why Should You Pray? *Pray because prayer brings God's intervention. Isaiah 38:5,6 *Pray because that's how you are authorized to communicate with God. 1 Thessalonians 15:16-18 *Pray because it is a major way of birthing God's will on earth. 1 Kings 18

The Importance Of The Anointing

Acts 10:38 The anointing is the presence of the Holy Spirit with a person. The anointing speaks, the anointing directs, and the anointing teaches people what they need to know and do. 1 John 2:27 You need the anointing. You can grow in the anointing. It is also possible to depart from the anointing. The anointing won't depart from you but you can depart from the anointing. You should remain in Him. It is worth it investing time to understand the your anointing, growing in your anointing and obeying the anointing. As you get to know a person better by spending time with them, so it is with the anointing in your life. With the anointing, you can't go wrong. The anointing strategically positions you in God's kingdom and in life. Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit. Colossians 2:9 Jesus had the anointing when He was here on earth. Jesus is our example of what our life can be when we have the anointing. Hebrews 12:2 Jesus knew His purpose. Luke 2:49 Jesus

Navigating A New Year

Isaiah  42:16 Our text passage above shows us God is the one who shows us the path to take and leads us in new directions. Your path matters to God. The way you you choose to take is important to God. Your steps are seen by God and ordered by God. Psalm 37:23 The year ahead of you matters to God too. Luke 13:8-9 Each year God has given you the grace to witness, experience, and journey through is another opportunity to be fruitful for God. God wants you to make the most of the year ahead of you to His glory. Human beings do not always know the way and path to go, we can be limited in wisdom. History shows we do not always make the best choices. The year ahead of us will require knowing the way to go, having the wisdom to make the best decisions and choices. Deuteronomy 30:19 To successfully navigate the year we need to stay in God.. To navigate is to find your way through, it is following the right path to a specific destination. Car drivers either buy a GPS/Navigation device system or
