Isaiah 33:22
Our text passage identifies God in three positions as our King, our Judge and our Lawgiver.
We will be focusing on God being our Judge in this message.
The Lord is the Judge of all creation.
Genesis 18:25
Judges are needed , respected and valued in every society.
As long as they do not act beneath their office they are revered as dignitaries whose wisdom, insight, training and ruling is to be upheld and followed.
Judges can determine the future and penalty of wrong doers.
The favor and mercy of a judge is a beautiful thing while the anger and judgement of a judge is a scary thing.
Ezekiel 7:8
The scripture shows us people God raised up as judges at various times over His people- Moses, Gideon, Deborah, Samson, Jephthah, Barak, Eli, Abimelech, Joshua, Tola etc.
It is important judges are incorruptible.
Proverbs 17:23
One of the offices Jesus Christ occupies is that of the Judge.
He is the Judge over His people.
This is good news because He is an incorruptible Judge, a Judge who brings forth justice in the life and affairs of His people.
He is our merciful Judge who doesn't wish to rule against us for He doesn't want us to perish.
John 3:16
He is our great Judge who has the final words on all matters that concern our lives.
Satan the enemy doesn't have the final word concerning your affairs or life, the great Judge does.
Unfavorable situations or circumstances should not have the final 'word' concerning you.
Past unpleasant experiences should not have the final word over us.
No man should and no man can determine our final outcome except God and ourselves.
No enemy, known and unknown , human or spirit should determine how far you go or what your limits are.
The only person who has that kind of authority over us is our great Judge- Jesus Christ.
Revelation 22:13
It was in the office of a judge Jesus was functioning when the woman caught in the act of adultery was presented before Him.
John 8:3-11
Caught in what would be a tight spot for many other men, Jesus in wisdom got out of it and set the woman free from her accusers who wanted to stone her to death.
To judge rightly and righteously, wisdom is needed and Jesus has been made wisdom and righteousness.
1 Corinthians 1:30
Solomon the king functioned in the office of a judge when he judged two women feuding over a baby.
He judged excellently and brought forth justice, his fear spread throughout the land for God's wisdom was at work in him.
1 kings 3:16-28
Our great Judge is One who is greater than Solomon, He will judge through you and judge in your favor, bringing forth justice!
Matthew 12:42
