Revelation 12:1-17
Our text passage depicts warfare that involves the woman, the child and the dragon (Satan).
There are many lessons that can be gleaned from this passage of scripture but it is first and foremost a chapter on warfare and it applies to many of us than we understand.
There are battles that are beyond us as individuals, as families, as humanity.
Battles that are beyond us are battles that have a head start on us mentally, they can be battles that spring up on us unexpectedly to ambush us, they can be generational battles but more importantly they are battles that don't have their roots in flesh and blood.
Ephesians 6:12
The purpose of these battles likes all battles and warfare is to take us out.
Revelation 12:15,16
The woman in our text passage is described as a glorious woman, a sign.
Glorious people, glorious destinies attract intense warfare.
This glorious woman attracted the dragon (Satan).
The glory of this woman and the child she was about to birth attracted the enemy.
A life that births greatness will attract warfare.
Satan doesn't want God glorified through us.
An individual who is fruitful for God will attract attacks.
Fruitful trees are stoned by people who desire the fruits of those trees.
The purpose of the stones is to get the fruits to drop.
Unfruitful trees don't get stoned.
If trees could talk they would tell you they don't appreciate being stoned.
But the stoning is evidence the tree is productive and fruitful.
The stoning can be likened to warfare for the tree.
If you are the enemy's target it is because the enemy sees you as a fruitful tree.
If strange warfare rises against you regularly and continuously, know you must have a great and glorious destiny.
Like the glorious woman from our text passage, the enemy can come against you because of what you are about to birth- dreams, vision, your calling, ministry, jobs, etc
Out of the glorious woman from our text passage, a world ruler was to be born and the enemy attacked her and her child.
Fortunately, she was blessed.
She escaped and overcame by divine intervention.
With God you can and you will overcome your warfare and battles.
The warfare may be continuous and persistent, it may have been longstanding and strange, it may have you cornered and have the odds against you but with divine intervention you will escape.
You need God to escape the enemy, the dragon.
The enemy (the dragon) has advantages over an ordinary man in warfare. It is not even a fair contest.
As Goliath had many advantages over David the shepherd in battle, the enemy may have advantages over you.
Goliath was physically stronger, more experienced in battle, more intimidating and fearful, taller and louder than David. Goliath had the weapons and the armor.
Everything seemed stacked in Goliath favor to win that battle, judging from a physical perspective.
But grace (the God factor) is available.
Grace is yours to benefit from in Christ Jesus.
David had grace and the covenant in his own favor.
What God had given him was enough to win.
What God has given you is enough to make you win.
Grace (the God factor) is available.
