Matthew 4:18,19
Mark 16:15
Jesus had something better for Simon Peter and his brother Andrew than catching fish.
Men who were catching fish were to become men who were catching human beings.
Jesus upgraded the dignity, the ability, and the importance of what Simon Peter and his brother Andrew were doing for a living, both before men and before God.
Human beings are of greater value than fish.
Human beings have an eternal value compared to fish which have a temporary, earthly value.
The call of Jesus to Peter and Andrew was a call to something bigger, better, longer lasting and with eternal impact.
That is what God is calling us to.
God is calling us to a higher purpose, a bigger vision and a better life.
Just as Peter and Andrew were called, we have all been called to be part of the Father's business which is going into the World to preach the gospel. Mark 16:15
Becoming fishers of men is part of the better things God has for you.
'Go' is an action word.
To 'go' means to do.
'Go' is a verb.
'Go' means every son and daughter of God has to be proactive in sharing the gospel.
'Go' means you should do something to make sure the gospel is getting out to people.
'Go' means you have to take steps with sharing the gospel
'Go' means you should move.
It is interesting Jesus didn't say 'pray for all the world and pray the gospel reaches all creation'
Jesus didn't say 'lets stay in our corners and let's hope the gospel reaches all creation.
There is a time for hoping, there is a place for prayer, but when it comes to sharing the good news of the gospel we are to move, we are to go and communicate the gospel to people.
When it has to do with laborers who will serve in God's Kingdom the Lord said we should "go"
Matthew 9:38
Matthew 28:19
When the right people come into a church, an organization or a Christian group, you will not have to force them to be proactive, you will not have to force them to serve, do outreach or evangelize.
That's why Jesus said we should pray for laborers. Matthew 9:38
When the laborers are God sent, the job will be done.
There are 3 major ways we can take the gospel to all the world:
1) Share the gospel with people yourself. Romans 1:16
2) Do outreach for ministries/churches where the Word of God is taught in truth. Psalm 122:1
3) Support individuals/ministries that have platforms to reach people you cannot reach. Galatians 6:6, Philippians 4:15-18
Just like the net Simon Peter, Andrew and all fisher men use to catch fish, God's people are meant to 'catch' others for God.
Nets are connected, nets are rope like materials weaved together to hold things.
Fishermen use them to hold fish.
God's people should be connected in unity, working together for the Kingdom of God.
We need each other.
We have to network like a net to win souls.
