Acts 2:1-17
The Holy Spirit works through us in two major ways, WITHIN US and UPON US.
There is the Spirit within and the Spirit upon.
It is the same Holy Spirit working in two different ways.
The Spirit within creates the fruit of the Spirit within us, the Holy Spirit within us creates the nature of God in us. He shows we belong to God. Galatians 5:22,23
The Spirit upon is a fullness of the same Holy Spirit.
This is what we call the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
To have the Spirit upon, you must have already had the Spirit within.
You must have had the nature of Jesus which takes place when we give our lives to Jesus, when we become born-again.
Ephesians 4:30
The Holy Spirit working within us is as important as the Holy Spirit working upon us.
None is more important than the other.
Each operation of the Holy Spirit is important and needed.
The Spirit of God upon us brings exploits.
Jesus, David, King Saul, Samson and the disciples performed exploits by God's Spirit upon their lives.
Jesus - Luke 3:22
Samson - Judges 14:6
David - 1Samuel 16:11-13
Saul - 1 Samuel 10:1
Othniel - Judges 3:10,11
The Spirit upon in the New Testament is known as the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for exploits.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for signs and wonders.
It is for expressing God's fullness through a human being.
What attracts the Holy Spirit to a life?
Sonship: being an offspring or child of God draws the Holy Spirit to a life. The Holy Spirit is the exclusive reserve of those who have Christ.
Acts 2:38, 1 Corinthians 6:19, Ephesians 1:13
Unity: Unity among God's people attracts the Holy Spirit.
Assemblies, meetings, programs, services where there is the seeking of God unity attracts the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:1,2
Seek for Him: Luke 11:13
The Holy Spirit is God.
God honours those who honour Him.
God draws near to those who draw near to Him. Jeremiah 29:13, Matthew 7:7, Matthew 7:11
Divine Instruction: the instruction of Jesus preceded the baptism of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.
God's power always follows God's instructions.
The Word of God and the Spirit of God work together.
The Holy Spirit had to show up on the day of Pentecost because the Word of God had been given.
Acts 1:2,4,5
