Intercession is using your prayers to help another person or people. 2 Corinthians 1:11
Intercession is one of the several different prayers we have.
When it comes to prayers, we have about 9 different types of prayer.
We have petition, intercession, travail, the prayer of praise and worship, the prayer of dedication and consecration, the prayer of faith, the prayer of agreement, the prayer of binding and loosing and speaking in tongues.
The Bible is loaded with examples of intercession/intercessory prayer.
We see from the scriptures, like other types of prayers, intercession is very powerful.
The beauty of intercession is that it is selfless prayer. It is selfless because it's target is another person or people not yourself.
Intercession is praying to benefit another person.
Intercession is a demonstration of love because the Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:5 that love is selfless.
Other people can receive favor, miracles, fruitfulness, blessings and answers they have been seeking as a result of your praying for them. That's what 2 Corinthians 1:11 is showing us.
Paul way saying he and his team could enjoy favor which will glorify God before men if the Corinthian church joined their prayers with he and his teams own.
If there is anyone (outside of Jesus Christ) who truly understood the power of intercessory prayer it was Paul.
In his writings he constantly asked the churches to pray for him.
He appreciated intercessory prayer.
Philippians 1:19
Ephesians 6:18
1 Timothy 2:1
Romans 10:1
James 5:14
Matthew 5:44
Jeremiah 29:7
In Genesis 24:12-14, a marriage miracle could happen for Isaac because Eliaezer the servant of Abraham interceded for God to bless his effort in returning home home with a wife for his masters son. That's how Rebecca was chosen for Isaac.
But perhaps the most amazing demonstration of the power of intercession is seen in Acts 12:5-17 when Peter was freed from prison. This happened is such a clean and powerful way because the church came together in unity and prayed.
Only God knows what your own intercession will do tonight.
