The Patriarch's Blessing

Genesis 49: 1-28

Our text passage shows us Israel praying over his twelve sons and telling them what was to befall them in the years ahead of them.

It's a very insightful passage we can draw many life lessons and spiritual lessons from.

The power of a fathers prayer over his children, especially a godly father is very powerful.

Jacob who became Israel is one of the father's of faith.

He is the grandson of Abraham and the son of Isaac.

Jacob was a man of great destiny.

He was a man of God,  he was prophetic and he had encounters with God., great encounters of God.

One of the places where we see the prophetic dimension at work the most in Jacob/Israel's life is in his fatherly/patriarchal blessing to  each of his twelve sons.

Through Jacob/Israel's prayer for his sons we see the power of a father's prayer for his children.

The words of Jacob/Israel during his prophetic prayers for his twelve sons show us not only what had happened in the lives of his sons up till the point of that prayer but what was to happen in their lives and what the consequences of their actions would be too, for some of the things they had done.

We see that there is power in a father's prayers for his children.

The things Jacob/Israel spoke over his children played out.

Good fathers correct their children, warn their children, protect their children, pray for their children and fight for their children.

Fatherhood is not an opportunity to curse, mislead, or sacrifice our children.

There are fathers who have pushed their children under the bus for their own benefit.

There are evil fathers who have sacrificed their generations, tampered with their linage for their own personal benefit.

Generational issues and deception is usually the handiwork of bad fathers.

Fathers are stewards and will give an account to God for how they have led their children and families.

A father is a steward for God.

God has given a father children through his wife or wives as the case may be that he may raise godly seed for God.

Malachi 2:15

Fatherhood is a great privilege.

Fatherhood is a great honor.

Fatherhood  grants a certain grace to men.

It gives them a grace to lead, guide, counsel, parent and decree.

Especially when a father is connected to God.

Fatherhood is one of the attributes of God, God is the Father.

He is the Father of all spirits.

Hebrews 12:9

Fathers are meant to bless.

That's what good fathers do.

You should bless your family.

You should bless your children.

God blesses us. He blesses us as Father.

Matthew 5:45

The first words the first  human beings heard when they were created and made alive were words of blessing.

Genesis 1:26-28

What are the first word your children hear from you when they wake up in the morning?

Your Father Hears

Matthew 6:5,6 Prayer should be directed to the Father. Jesus showed this when He taught His disciples the Lord's prayer. It should be a great comfort to you to know that the creator and God of all hears you when you pray. This should encourage you to pray and keep praying. In our day to day relationships with people our communication will reduce towards those who don't pay attention when we're talking to them. The good thing about God is that He is never distracted. Know you have His attention when you pray . He can be communicated with. He hears, He created the ears. Psalm 94:9 Jesus encouraged prayer. Matthew 26:40 Jesus taught prayer. Luke 11:1,2 If Jesus prayed, you will need to pray. Why Should You Pray? *Pray because prayer brings God's intervention. Isaiah 38:5,6 *Pray because that's how you are authorized to communicate with God. 1 Thessalonians 15:16-18 *Pray because it is a major way of birthing God's will on earth. 1 Kings 18...

Out Of The Ashes

Isaiah 61:3 Ashes are not seen as useful substances. Ashes are waste that's thrown away. Ashes are what is left after a substance is burnt out. Your life may seem like ashes right now but something good and beautiful can come out of it when it's given to God. You may feel like an ash yourself. You may be feeling burnt out from unpleasant experiences of the past, the previous week, the last Month , or the the last year and life's battles may have left you burnt out. Know that out of your ashes can come beauty! God is the one who gives us beauty for ashes. God can make you and your life beautiful! Don't make the ashes your permanent state. God can make your season of ashes work out into a season of glory for you. Romans 8:28 The phoenix is a mystical and fictional bird that burns out after living for about six centuries. After burning itself out it rises from it's ashes renewed, youthful and revitalized to live through another life cycle. Like the p...
