Resisting Messengers Of Evil Report

 1 Kings 19:1-8

As our text passage reveals, Elijah the prophet of the Lord was threatened by the message sent to him by a messenger of Jezebel the queen.

That message was not good news, it was an evil report to let Elijah know he was a wanted man, it was to let Elijah know there is a death edict on his life!

There are messengers of evil reports in the world today.

There are evil messengers of evil reports delivering the reports of the gates of hell in the world today.

The kingdom of darkness has messengers of darkness, evil messengers of fear, debt, delay, and intimidation.

May they be far from you and your home!

The world we live in is full of darkness because it is under the sway of Satan

1 John 5:19

This automatically shows there is bad news and all sorts of evil report in today's world.

Messengers of bad news are messengers of evil report.

Evil report or bad news can come through mass media, a Dr's diagnosis, dreams, family members, the fear from friends or acquaintances, peoples anger, witchcraft and the information gathered from negative past experiences.

Evil spirits are the energy behind evil reports.

Jezebel the queen of Samaria was no ordinary woman, she was an evil queen possessed by a principality.

The evil in Jezebel is the power behind the message she had a messenger send to Elijah.

The purpose of evil reports the enemy sends through his messengers is to stop us, it's to cause fear, it is to intimidate us, and make us run away in defeat.

Evil messengers whether they are human or spirits bring evil reports and these reports cause confusion.

Thank God an evil messenger is not the only messenger Elijah experienced.

An angel of God brought a more positive report and instruction for Elijah.

The angel empowered Elijah through heavenly food which enabled Elijah to keep going and not give up.

We have power in Christ Jesus to resist evil messengers for Satan the master-mind behind the operation of evil reports can be resisted.

James 4:7

We can also pray for God to send good news or positive news to counteract the negative messages from evil messengers.

Elijah made it, Jezebel didn't.

Jezebel wanted Elijah dead but she died instead.

Elijah who she put a death warrant out for didn't experience death but was taken up to heaven in honor with a chariot of fire.

Isaiah 61:3 Ashes are not seen as useful substances. Ashes are waste that's thrown away. Ashes are what is left after a substance is burnt out. Your life may seem like ashes right now but something good and beautiful can come out of it when it's given to God. You may feel like an ash yourself.
