John 14:13, 14
Jeremiah 33:3
You can spend your entire life praying, but if you do not know how God has answered you, you will miss your harvest.
Do you recognise your answer from God when it comes? Acts 12:11-16
You can spend a whole lifetime on your knees praying, if you don't recognise your harvest, you will fail.
Ignorance is a terrible thing.
A story is told of a man who fell off a ship on the Atlantic Ocean . The man has a relationship with the Lord. But unfortunately he was ignorant in some ways.
No one in the ship knew he fell off.
He cried to the Lord, asking God not to let him drown.
Shortly after his prayer, a man paddling a canoe rode by and offered him a lift.
The drowning man declined the help firmly but politely, informing the man paddling the canoe that he was expecting God to save him.
Shortly after a man with a speed boat drove by, and offered the drowning man a hand and a ride.
The drowning man rejected the help because he believes God will not let him drown.
And the man on the speed boat sped off.
Eventually another man in a helicopter glided across the ocean, noticed the drowning man & offered him a lift to save his life.
Once again the drowning man turned down the offer because he believes he has prayed & he is waiting on God to save him.
Eventually the man died from drowning but made it to heaven.
When he got to the gates of heaven, angels welcomed him into heaven and he was ushered into the presence of Jesus.
He knelt before Jesus crying, and asking why Jesus allowed him to die despite his prayer to live.
Jesus replied, "what did you want me to do? I sent you the man with the canoe but you refused the offer, I sent you the man with a speed boat but you refused his help and finally I sent you the gent with a helicopter but once again you turned down my offer"
The man realising his foolishness, replied "I didn't know those men were your answers to prayer Lord"
Unfortunately, many Christians today are like that man.
A minister of the gospel I like once said "there are many galant prayers warriors in the world who are galant failures"
And it's true. You look at their lives and there is nothing that reflects the Kingdom, glory or power of God in their lives.
Is it that God isn't faithful to answer their prayers?
God answers most of them but the issue is always with people. People don't recognise their answers when it comes.
Genesis 21:8-19
Mark 11:24- it is the will of God we get our answer when we pray.
How does God answer prayers?
1) Through relationships: The answer you need is inside another person.
It is through love you get it out of them.
Somebody has something you need.
That person maybe the answer to your prayer. Acts 4:34, 35
2) Through ideas: Genesis 30:25-43, Genesis 31:10-12
Jacob increased and became great, his business prospered by an idea God gave him
3) In the form of potential: when the answer to your prayer comes, it may not come as you imagined it. It may not come in a familiar package. It may not come the way you imagined it. And if you're not open minded you may not recognise it unfortunately.
Some have missed the blessing of answered prayer this way.
