A LOOK AT THE WELSH REVIVAL (Transcript)

Jesus came with a revival in His time.
Jesus is the standard, in ministry, in life and in spirituality for the christian believer.

What is revival?
A revival in it's simplest form is amove of God.
Revive means to come alive.
There have been moves of God in divers places at different times that have been memorable.
The Welsh revival of 1904 was one of them. It was one of the greatest revivals ever.

What should we expect from revivals?
1) With revivals come restoration. Isaiah 38:16
2) With revivals come strength. Judges 15:18,19
3) With revivals come improvements. 1 Samuel 14:27
4) With revivals come life. John 14:6
5) With revivals come spiritual awakenings.John 8:32
6) With revivals come power. Acts 1:8
7) With revivals, signs, wonders and miracles can occur. Hebrews 2:3,4
8) With revivals come joy. Acts 8:5-8

All these and much more can occur during a move of God.
These all happened during the Welsh revival which God used a young man by the name Evan Roberts to start.
Evan Roberts was the man God used to set the whole of Wales on fire.
Any good thing we see in the ministry of Jesus is what a God inspired revival can offer.
The Welsh revival brought these things.

What was the nature of the Welsh revival?
1) Over 150,000 were converted and added to churches in Wales.
2) Lives were transformed and lifestyles changed.
3) Homes and families were healed.
4) It was a revival lasted for a year, but the impact of it is more far reaching.
5) Churches became packed and on fire with fervour and zeal
6) Within 9 months over 100,000 came to Jesus.

What triggered the Welsh revival?
It was triggered by young people who began to experience the reality of God's divine power.
There were teams of young people who travelled the country revolutionizing the churches. One of such teams was the team of Evan Roberts.

The revival in Wales came about by fervent prayer.
Prayer is the key to any and every revival there has been.

Fervent prayer and passionate singing were the major happenings during the Welsh revival. People found that when revival broke out in Wales they disregarded the clock, the didn't care about time.
This revival sparked spiritual fires in more than a dozen other countries.
Wales became known as the land of revival because there had been a previous revival of 1859 led by a revivalist called David Morgan.
Over 100,000 converts were added to the churches during that revival.
It's been noted that each revival in Wales has had its own special emphasis, distinctives and hymns that seem to sum up the experience of the move of God in the life of the nation

In 1735 there had been another revival in Wales known as the methodist revival. It flourished in England under the ministries of George Whitfield and John and Charles Wesley

Note: Not everyone understands the nature of revivals

  • There will be distractions and sometimes challenges to revivals.
  • Some people will be confused by revivals.
  • Some people will be frightened by revivals.
  • Satan makes an effort to quench the spirit of revivals.
The distraction Evan Roberts faced in the form of wrong doctrines made the Welsh revival wane.He was deceived into believing the doctrines of a certain lady minister who many churches of that time found heretical. The Welsh revival of 1904- 1905 had this tragic twist to it.
Every minister has to look out, so as not to be distracted by the Jezebel spirit.

Your Father Hears

Matthew 6:5,6 Prayer should be directed to the Father. Jesus showed this when He taught His disciples the Lord's prayer. It should be a great comfort to you to know that the creator and God of all hears you when you pray. This should encourage you to pray and keep praying. In our day to day relationships with people our communication will reduce towards those who don't pay attention when we're talking to them. The good thing about God is that He is never distracted. Know you have His attention when you pray . He can be communicated with. He hears, He created the ears. Psalm 94:9 Jesus encouraged prayer. Matthew 26:40 Jesus taught prayer. Luke 11:1,2 If Jesus prayed, you will need to pray. Why Should You Pray? *Pray because prayer brings God's intervention. Isaiah 38:5,6 *Pray because that's how you are authorized to communicate with God. 1 Thessalonians 15:16-18 *Pray because it is a major way of birthing God's will on earth. 1 Kings 18

The Importance Of The Anointing

Acts 10:38 The anointing is the presence of the Holy Spirit with a person. The anointing speaks, the anointing directs, and the anointing teaches people what they need to know and do. 1 John 2:27 You need the anointing. You can grow in the anointing. It is also possible to depart from the anointing. The anointing won't depart from you but you can depart from the anointing. You should remain in Him. It is worth it investing time to understand the your anointing, growing in your anointing and obeying the anointing. As you get to know a person better by spending time with them, so it is with the anointing in your life. With the anointing, you can't go wrong. The anointing strategically positions you in God's kingdom and in life. Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit. Colossians 2:9 Jesus had the anointing when He was here on earth. Jesus is our example of what our life can be when we have the anointing. Hebrews 12:2 Jesus knew His purpose. Luke 2:49 Jesus

Navigating A New Year

Isaiah  42:16 Our text passage above shows us God is the one who shows us the path to take and leads us in new directions. Your path matters to God. The way you you choose to take is important to God. Your steps are seen by God and ordered by God. Psalm 37:23 The year ahead of you matters to God too. Luke 13:8-9 Each year God has given you the grace to witness, experience, and journey through is another opportunity to be fruitful for God. God wants you to make the most of the year ahead of you to His glory. Human beings do not always know the way and path to go, we can be limited in wisdom. History shows we do not always make the best choices. The year ahead of us will require knowing the way to go, having the wisdom to make the best decisions and choices. Deuteronomy 30:19 To successfully navigate the year we need to stay in God.. To navigate is to find your way through, it is following the right path to a specific destination. Car drivers either buy a GPS/Navigation device system or
