Galatians 5:1
Our text passage encourages us not to be entangled again with the yoke of bondage but to stand in the liberty that Christ has given us.
Jesus came for our freedom.
We shouldn't go from freedom back into bondage, we must not be entangled .
Entanglements are part of the strategy of the enemy of our souls to keep us bound and defeated.
The spiders web comes to mind when entanglements are mentioned.
The spider is a very interesting creature when you think about it.
God has given the spider the unique ability to spin webs, these webs are what become cobwebs in our buildings and homes, they are the spider's traps for its potential prey and they are part of the spiders survival strategy.
The purpose of the spiders web its to get the spider fed, it's to catch the spiders potential prey.
The victim gets entangled in the web the spider has weaved skillfully with clever patterns.
Very much like the spider, Satan sets traps to capture souls and destinies.
Like a spider he has strategies he has weaved together to steal, kill, and destroy in people's lives.
John 10:10
The spiders web is meant to entangle its victims and the more the insects, moth, or flies caught in the web struggle, the more entangled they become.
After some time they become too entangled and weak to fight or set themselves free, they're stuck and end up as food for the spider.
Like a spider seeking its victim and like a lion seeking whom to devour, the devil seeks who to destroy.
1 Peter 5:8
The devil has a similar strategy to the spider to get people entangled, he gets people entangled with the issues of life, the more these people struggle hopelessly the more entangled they become; eventually weakened by worry and fear they end up the devils victim.
You don't have to be a victim and you don't have to be entangled and stuck in the cobweb of the enemy.
There is a way out, there is a way of escape.
1 Corinthians 10:13
Jesus Christ is the door of escape.
John 10:9
He takes away the burdens, breaks the yokes, and delivers us from the things that would entangle, weaken, and defeat us.
Matthew 11:28,29
He makes us victors not victims.
1 John 5:4
There are animals that cannot be the spider's victims.
No matter how much a spider tries, its webs cannot limit an elephant or get an elephant stuck.
No matter how clever a spider may be, its cobwebs cannot catch a lion.
Eagles have never been seen to get entangled in spiders webs.
Such animals are not light weights, they are not spiders food.
You must not be a spiritual light weight, you are not food for the devil.
As we grow and develop after the order of Christ, we qualify not to be victims of the enemy's webs/traps.
Romans 8:29
We no longer remain spiritual light weights tossed about by every wind of doctrine and harassed by the enemy.
As we develop our spiritual strength and muscles we are strengthened not to be the enemy's victims.
Ephesians 6:10
Despite all the enemy threw at Jesus, he could not get Jesus stuck or hindered, he couldn't prevail against Jesus the Christ.
John 14:30
That should be our testimony too!
