Ephesians 6:10-18
From our text passage we are encouraged to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
We are told to put on the whole armor of God and we are told why we should do so.
The reason we need to put on the whole armor of God is because it helps us stand against the schemes of the devil.
If you don't have the whole armor of God on you don't stand a chance in spiritual warfare.
Spiritual warfare is raging on the earth today and you need to be aware of it.
The schemes of the devil, his devices are a big part of life and spiritual warfare.
You can stand toe to toe with the arch and ancient enemy of mankind and not fall by God's grace if you put on the whole armor of God.
If you do not stand in the day of battle it means you fell or you gave up.
The Bible makes it clear that if we give up in the day of adversity or battle it is because our strength is small.
People give up when they don't have enough strength.
Proverbs 24:10
The schemes or devices of the enemy brings battles into our lives.
The purpose of those battles is to take you out, it's to make you miss the mark, it's to make you miss your destiny, it's to take you away from God's kingdom, it is to make you a shadow of who God created you to be.
The enemy of our souls is not alone in his evil agenda, he has a structure in place- he has warriors, princes, and soldiers in the marine, terrestrial and air realm.
They are the ones we wrestle against.
They are the principalities (rulers), powers (authorities), spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly realms (cosmic powers or master spirits) they are the ones ruling over this present darkness!
Some of these evil spirits are specifically mentioned in the Bible- principalities like Leviathan, the Queen of heaven, the prince of Persia, Apollyon, and the Jezebel spirit.
Leviathan is the principality of the marine/water kingdom.
The queen of heaven is a principality of the air.
The Jezebel spirit is a principality that seduces and controls (religiously and sexually) and emasculates men.
The prince of Persia is a principality that was over a nation, the nation of Persia.
Apollyon is the principality of the bottomless pit.
There are many evil spirits who act as familiar spirits, monitoring spirits, spiritual hit men, manipulators, lying spirits etc
They are responsible for a lot of the evil in every age and dispensation, they are powers of darkness.
The kingdom of darkness, also called the gates of hell is the enemy's kingdom.
These are spirits you cannot stand against without the full armor of God.
To come against them in battle without the armor of God on would equal throwing a lamb to lions to feed on.
To come against them with some parts of the armor of God on but not the full armor means there will be areas of our lives that's left vulnerable to the enemy to attack. It will take the mercy of God not to go down in such a battle.
But when we have the full armor on we can go toe to toe with the devil and emerge victorious.
The armor of God is an armor of light!
God's armor is given to his saints that they may wage a good warfare.
It is an armor of light because it comes from God and God is light.
1 John 1:5
It is an armor of light because God is a God who cloths or wraps Himself in light.
Psalm 104:2
The armor makes us look like God in battle.
God dresses in light, so dresses His saints in light too.
To put on the armor of God is to put on light!
What makes up the armor of light?
i. The helmet of salvation (for our head protection)
ii. The breastplate of righteousness f(or our chest, core and stomach protection)
ii. The gospel of peace (our foot wear, our leg protection)
iv. The belt of truth (our groin area protection)
v. The sword of the Spirit (our weapon of offense)
vi. The shield of faith (our front and general protection from the flaming darts of the enemy)
vii. Praying in the Spirit at all times & praying for one another.
If you have them on or in place you will look like God in the Spirit realm.
The enemy will know you are of the Lord and not one to be toyed with.
The enemy will know he can't push you about without a fight!
So put on your armor valiant warrior of Christ, be strong and make the kingdom of God proud!
