Bewitchment: A work of Darkness

 Galatians 3:1-3

In our text passage we see the Apostle Paul asked the Galatians who had bewitched them.

There are all sorts of bewitched people in the world today unfortunately.

A fact about bewitched people is that many of them don't understand the battle they have come into, the fight against their destiny and the fact that their minds have been hijacked through deception.

What many people have settled for as their fate is not God's will for them.

Bewitchment makes a person do foolish things.

Darkness (the gates of hell) has many strategies.

We must not be ignorant of the wiles of the enemy, bewitchment is one of them.

2 Corinthians 2:11

To be bewitched is simply to be deceived and under a contrary influence.

Bewitchment brings a dark presence into a persons life or aspects of a person's life.

Bewitchment blinds the eyes, makes people misuse opportunities, makes people lose favor with others and makes a person act contrary to the ways of mental dignity.

When Paul wrote to the Galatian church asking who had bewitched them he asked that question with regards to doctrine- the faith versus human works, the spirit versus the flesh.

There is religious bewitchment.

The Galatian church had come under religious bewitchment.

Religious bewitchment can come when false teachings are embraced.

This is why the Apostle Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost wrote against accepting another gospel.

Galatians 1:6-9

This is part of the reason true teachers of the word are needed in the body of Christ.

There is family bewitchment.

David opened the door to bewitchment in his family when he took Uriah the Hittite's wife Bathsheba, got her pregnant, tried to cover it up, and it led to his instruction to get Uriah killed.

God's judgement/sword fell on David and the consequence was that bewitchment came into his home.

A dark presence came into David's family and anything that could go wrong went wrong in his home.

His children fell out with one another, they began to scheme for their father's throne, they started hurting and killing one another, David was shamed by one of his favorite sons- Absalom, and the issues go on leading to betrayals and loss.

Love had gone out the window in David's family.

Where love is absent, bewitchment thrives.

It is bewitchment that makes siblings- brothers and sisters want to destroy one another.

It is bewitchment that makes a husband seek the downfall of his own wife, and a wife the destruction of her husband.

Bewitchment works against the intentions/plan of God.

It is bewitchment that makes a son turn against his father, and a daughter against her mother.

Bewitchment goes against God's order for the family unit.

Malachi 4:6

The works of the flesh opens the door for bewitchment.

Galatians 5:19-21

Absalom the son of David was bewitched.

It is bewitchment that made him want to kill God's anointed, his own father, and take over the throne.

Absalom killed Amnon his half brother and older brother who had raped Tamar Absalom's sister and Amnon's half sister.

Absalom carried bitterness towards Amnon for many years as a result of what Amnon did to his sister Tamar. Absalom waited for the opportune moment to strike and he did years later.

Bitterness can open the door to bewitchment.

Under the influence of bewitchment, Absalom slept with his father's concubines on the roof top in broad daylight.

Anything that could go wrong in a family obviously went wrong in David's family life.

If we are truly knowledgeable of the consequences of sin, we will ask God for grace regularly for us to sin no more.

John 8:11

Bewitchment has it's root in the spiritual, it produces a dark presence in any environment it's in and things begin to go wrong.

Bewitchment can come from a curse, a spell, witchcraft, and sin.

There is mental bewitchment

This is the cause of a lot of mental health problems.

Many mental health issues are cases of bewitchment not so much medical issues.

Bewitchment can play out in all aspects of our lives- finances, health, career, academics, marital, and social.

Guard against ignorance and error.

It is not right for a man to have all sorts of 'side chicks' he lavishes money on when his parents live in squalor in their village or home town.

If a man can live like that and he sees nothing wrong with it, he is not alright mentally.

Any man who can touch his fathers women or wife is not mentally okay.

Reuben the first son of Jacob (Israel) did so by having an amorous relationship with his fathers concubine, this brought a curse upon his life.

Genesis 49:3,4

There are things a man in his right senses will not do.

It is bewitchment on the part of a man to feel comfortable to give all sorts of strange women his time and money without being responsible to the lovely family God has given him.

It is questionable to bring children into the world as a parent and not care for them or provide for them or have sympathy for them.

A bewitched man can become an alcoholic.

Bewitchment makes an individual lose dignity, respect, and friends.

It's one of the gimmicks of the enemy to make our lives come into darkness, and turn us into shadows of who God created us to be.

Bewitchment is usually against our soul, it corrupts and reverses the functioning of our souls.

The good news to us today, is that soul healing is available through God.

Isaiah 61:1-3

Navigating A New Year

Isaiah  42:16 Our text passage above shows us God is the one who shows us the path to take and leads us in new directions. Your path matters to God. The way you you choose to take is important to God. Your steps are seen by God and ordered by God. Psalm 37:23 The year ahead of you matters to God too. Luke 13:8-9 Each year God has given you the grace to witness, experience, and journey through is another opportunity to be fruitful for God. God wants you to make the most of the year ahead of you to His glory. Human beings do not always know the way and path to go, we can be limited in wisdom. History shows we do not always make the best choices. The year ahead of us will require knowing the way to go, having the wisdom to make the best decisions and choices. Deuteronomy 30:19 To successfully navigate the year we need to stay in God.. To navigate is to find your way through, it is following the right path to a specific destination. Car drivers either buy a GPS/Navigation device system or

Your Father Hears

Matthew 6:5,6 Prayer should be directed to the Father. Jesus showed this when He taught His disciples the Lord's prayer. It should be a great comfort to you to know that the creator and God of all hears you when you pray. This should encourage you to pray and keep praying. In our day to day relationships with people our communication will reduce towards those who don't pay attention when we're talking to them. The good thing about God is that He is never distracted. Know you have His attention when you pray . He can be communicated with. He hears, He created the ears. Psalm 94:9 Jesus encouraged prayer. Matthew 26:40 Jesus taught prayer. Luke 11:1,2 If Jesus prayed, you will need to pray. Why Should You Pray? *Pray because prayer brings God's intervention. Isaiah 38:5,6 *Pray because that's how you are authorized to communicate with God. 1 Thessalonians 15:16-18 *Pray because it is a major way of birthing God's will on earth. 1 Kings 18

The Importance Of The Anointing

Acts 10:38 The anointing is the presence of the Holy Spirit with a person. The anointing speaks, the anointing directs, and the anointing teaches people what they need to know and do. 1 John 2:27 You need the anointing. You can grow in the anointing. It is also possible to depart from the anointing. The anointing won't depart from you but you can depart from the anointing. You should remain in Him. It is worth it investing time to understand the your anointing, growing in your anointing and obeying the anointing. As you get to know a person better by spending time with them, so it is with the anointing in your life. With the anointing, you can't go wrong. The anointing strategically positions you in God's kingdom and in life. Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit. Colossians 2:9 Jesus had the anointing when He was here on earth. Jesus is our example of what our life can be when we have the anointing. Hebrews 12:2 Jesus knew His purpose. Luke 2:49 Jesus
