Isaiah 38:1-9
The text passage is an insightful story that shows the power and speed of prayer.
Hezekiah the king of Judah had an illness that wasn't responding to treatment.
Hezekiah overcame his predicament by turning to the right person.
King Hezekiah turned to God and he received a positive turnaround in his health.
Like king Hezekiah we may find ourselves in situations that are beyond us, we may find ourselves in conditions that defy every form of help we have sought whether it's medical, herbal, therapies, physiotherapy, exercise, or even spiritual help.
During such times, who and where you go to for help matters greatly, it will determine whether you overcome what you are going through or not.
When God's word came to king Hezekiah through the prophet Isaiah that he would not overcome his sickness but die, he was smart enough to turn to the only person who could heal/help him- God.
Many people accept it as their fate when unfortunate reports come to them.
People often fail to understand that God's presence is where their change is.
They turn to everyone and everything for help except God.
Turn to God first before other remedies.
In the presence of God, negative reports can be converted to positive ones.
Hezekiah's prayer was heard by God just as your prayer will be heard by God.
Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, cried out to God, he poured out his heart to the Lord and instantly God changed His mind about king Hezekiah's illness and future.
God added to king Hezekiah's life fifteen more years and gave Hezekiah a miraculous sign from nature to prove He will do what He had promised.
May God give you a sign for good.
God also gave Hezekiah victory over his enemy, an enemy who is also his nation's enemy.
God had mercy on Hezekiah and changed His mind and blessed Hezekiah.
God sent the prophet Isaiah who had previously given Hezekiah bad news an instruction to turn around and give Hezekiah good news.
Like Hezekiah's prayer, may your own prayers bring about good news to you.
Hezekiah's prayer made God change His mind for Hezekiah's benefit and God's glory.
Your prayer can do the same.
Hezekiah turning his face to the wall when praying is a posture of focus, a shutting out of every distraction to his prayer.
Like Hezekiah, we should be focused before the Lord when praying.
Prayer is a place where we can get instant answers from God.
Prayer is a place and posture where we can negotiate positive outcomes with God.
In the place of prayer you can change bad reports.
Just as Hezekiah did in prayer, you can negotiate a change for the better with your Creator.
