Ephesians 5:15,16
We gather from our text passage that redeeming the time answers to wisdom.
If there is anything every living human being needs to do in this new year, it is to redeem the time.
We need to redeem the time because God instructs it.
We need to redeem the time because the days are evil.
We need to redeem the time because human beings have a limited time to do what they need to do, no one lives forever on earth at the moment.
We need to redeem the time because there is a speed up of time and events before the Lord's return.
Zephaniah 1 :14
The time and season we are in calls for a redeeming of the time.
What does it mean to redeem the time?
To redeem the time is basically to compensate for lost or wasted time.
It is to gain or regain possession of your time by paying a price.
Time has always been a commodity people say cannot be regained.
While that is true in a sense, God can help us make up for lost or wasted time.
Redeeming the time starts with God, for our times and seasons are in His hands.
Psalm 31:15
With man, regaining or taking back lost time may be impossible but with God all things are possible.
Matthew 19:26
God is supernatural and He does supernatural things.
The concept of time is from God.
Aging, which is caused by the passage of time is a natural occurrence God permits.
God can add valuable and satisfying years to a person to make up for wasted years.
God controls time.
He is the God who added 15 years to the life of Hezekiah the king.
Isaiah 38:5
God can also reverse our aging process by renewing our youth.
Psalm 103:5
God's wisdom which is available to us if we ask for it helps us redeem the time.
We need to redeem the time because the Lord's return is nearer than we think and we should be ready.
We redeem the time by:
1) Accepting Jesus's redemption
The price Jesus paid for our redemption split time.
The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross not only benefits us in terms of salvation, but affects the times of our life for the better.
2) Waiting on God
Waiting on God gives speed.
Waiting on God renews us and strengthens us.
Isaiah 40:31
3) Making the most of opportunities.
Life presents you with certain opportunities.
When you use them, you're redeeming the time.
Ephesians 5:16
4) Making the best decisions
This answers to good judgement, good judgement is the product of wisdom.
God does not turn back or reject anyone asking for wisdom.
Ephesians 5:16
James 1:5
5) Asking God to restore our wasted years.
God can do a work of restoration regarding what's been lost or stolen from our lives, including the restoration of our time.
Joel 2:25
