Isaiah 30:21
Matthew 2:1-2, 9-10
In life we will all need guidance now and again.
Divine direction/guidance is one of the great benefits God's children should enjoy. Romans 8:14
We can see from our text passages that God desires to guide His own.
The purpose of guidance or direction is to keep us on the right track so we don't miss our way and so that you we will make it to our desired end/destination.
This year we must not joke with divine direction.
Proverbs 14:12 reveals to us why divine guidance matters in life, it is important so as to avoid in areas of our lives.
The wise men would have delivered Jesus into the hand of His enemy- King Herod, if not for divine direction. And after killing Jesus, there is a possibility Herod could kill the wise men also.
Divine direction is the sure way to avoid the enemy's traps for our lives.
The wise men had a destination. Their destination was where the King of the Jews was, so that they could worship Him.
In life you must also have a destination. Your destination should be the expected end God has for you. Jeremiah 29:11
To get to your expected end you will need guidance just like the wise men needed guidance to get to where Jesus was.
As the wise men went to Jesus, Jesus is expecting and commending our coming to Him. Matthew 11:28
Jesus is the Star that guided the wise men to where He was as a young child. Revelations 22:16 (It is a great mystery)
Jesus is still in the business of guiding people today.
Jesus wants to guide you to victory.
Shepherds guide sheep, and we become the sheep of Jesus when we give our lives to Him, for Jesus is the great shepherd. John 10:2-5
This year, make up your mind to follow the Star.
How do we follow the Star?
1. We follow the Star by looking upwards. Colossians 3:2
2. We follow the Star by obeying and listening to the Holy Spirit. John 14:15-17
3. We follow the Star by obeying and following God's Word. 2 Timothy 3:16,17, Psalm 119:105
4. We follow the Star by obeying and following the teachings and instructions of true servants of God. 2 Chronicles 26:5, Amos 3:7, 2 Chronicles 20:20
5. We follow the Star by walking in understanding and inspiration that's from God. Job 32:8
