Unlikely Vessels

 Hebrews 13:2

Our text passage encourages us to be good to people, for some have entertained angels as they showed hospitality to strangers, these strangers were angels unaware.

When angels come to the earth they often come in unexpected ways and forms, sometimes angels walk among us in human form, our text passage confirms this.

These messengers of God come as unlikely vessels.

Treat people well, especially strangers. You never know, you just might entertain an angel one day.

You are blessed if you end up showing kindness to angels of God.

Jesus came to the earth as the Savior unaware to many people, He was an unlikely vessel.

He didn't come to the earth the way the Jews thought their Messiah would come or should come.

The Jews want and expect their Messiah to come from an aristocratic noble home, they didn't expect or want a savior born in a manger, they imagined a powerful and political savior who would rise, show leadership, probably lead the nation into battles and wars and dominate their enemies.

They didn't expect that the Messiah that they have been hoping for and received prophecies about would come as a carpenter who would start preaching about a spiritual kingdom.

Matthew 13:54,55

When we consider the lives of men like Gideon, David, king Saul, Paul the Apostle, the disciples of Jesus, and Jephthah the Gileadite we see they were unlikely vessels used by God, raised up by God for a purpose.

Some of them were 'underdogs' in life.

Many people who are in the faith today are no different, God had mercy on them.

God specializes in using unlikely people, unlikely vessels for His glory.

1 Samuel 2:8

God is the God of the underdog, He is the one who gives the underdog a chance in life and a place in His kingdom.

1 Corinthians 1:27,28

You might look at your life today and feel there is nothing special or spectacular about it.

You may feel there are better qualified people for God to use.

God is the one who qualifies the unqualified and qualifies the called.

He is the one who can make an unworthy vessel worthy and use man's reject.

I believe we are in a time and season God will raise up some very unlikely people to glorify Himself.

May you be one of them.

John 9:1-3

God has a way of picking up unlikely people, those who men have despised, those men have thought nothing good or nothing more can come from their lives, and He makes something of them.

The town of Nazareth was an unlikely vessel in a sense.

Nazareth was an unlikely place for the Messiah to come from, many didn't think anything good could come from her but the best person ever came through Nazareth.

John 1:46

God uses unlikely vessels.

He does so because He doesn't look at people and issues the way man does.

He looks into the heart and qualifies the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

If your heart is right, God can use you.

If your heart is right, mercy can locate you.

If your heart is right, God can raise you up.

Proverbs 4:23

Navigating A New Year

Isaiah  42:16 Our text passage above shows us God is the one who shows us the path to take and leads us in new directions. Your path matters to God. The way you you choose to take is important to God. Your steps are seen by God and ordered by God. Psalm 37:23 The year ahead of you matters to God too. Luke 13:8-9 Each year God has given you the grace to witness, experience, and journey through is another opportunity to be fruitful for God. God wants you to make the most of the year ahead of you to His glory. Human beings do not always know the way and path to go, we can be limited in wisdom. History shows we do not always make the best choices. The year ahead of us will require knowing the way to go, having the wisdom to make the best decisions and choices. Deuteronomy 30:19 To successfully navigate the year we need to stay in God.. To navigate is to find your way through, it is following the right path to a specific destination. Car drivers either buy a GPS/Navigation device system or

Moving Forward Against All Odds

2 kings 2:8-24 The forty two youths mocking Prophet Elisha in our text passage represent forty two different ways, problems, or odds the enemy can use to try and stop us. It is God's will that you go forward in life (make progress) despite the odds stacked against you. Each challenge, problem, setback, or odd from the enemy to stop you from moving forward is due for a curse. Just like Daniel of old who purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the delicacies from King Nebuchadenezzer's table, purpose in your heart that nothing will stop you from moving forward in God and with God. Daniel 1:8 There are things, issues, circumstances, and people the enemy will raise up to try and stop you. Make up your mind that you will not be stopped, make up your mind that you will not give up. Make up your mind to go all the way with God. Elisha the prophet had just received a double portion of the spirit of his mentor and spiritual father- the prophet Elijah. His miracle an

Trust The Process

God is a sovereign God who rules in the affairs of men. Daniel 4:32 God is interested in the affairs of His creation and pays attention to every single detail about humanity and all His other works of creation. Luke 12:6,7 That includes you, God is interested in you. Matthew 6:26-32 Since God created you and loves you, you can trust His process for your life. The God who created you knows you. He not only knows you He is intentional about you. Genesis 1:31 He has a plan, a good plan for you. He has an expected end for you. Jeremiah 29:11 This means He has a blueprint for your life. Matthew 6:10 God's having a blue print for your life means there's a pattern God expects your life to follow. It also means there is a process your life has to follow to get to your expected end. It is a process and journey of growth and development. 1 Peter 2:2 It is a process that will bring the best out of you. James 1:2-4 It is a process that will give you a beautiful outcome. It is a process th
