Glad Tidings

Luke 2:4-10 From our text passage we see glad tidings were brought to shepherds who lived in the same country where Jesus was born. The glad tidings were delivered by an angel of God. The angel didn't come to pass judgement, destroy, or kill. He came for a higher purpose. He came for the gospel. He came to direct according to the glad tiding that had happened. He calmed the fear of the shepherds who were frightened to see him. The shepherds also saw a host of angels in the heaven praising God in excitement about Jesus's birth. Glad tidings means good news. Gladness is another word for joy/joyful. Glad tidings bring joy. The gospel means good news. Good news brings about joy and celebration. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of gladness/joy. Psalm 45:7 The kingdom of God is a kingdom of joy. Romans 14:17 The birth of Jesus the Christ brought joy in heaven and on earth. Why shouldn't we celebrate it? Heaven celebrated God coming to earth in the form of a human being, a baby who ...

You've Got Something

Genesis    1:1-19 God spoke the world into existence out of nothing. Nothing is something when God is in it. It would seem God made creation out of nothing. At some point God had nothing valuable to work with except darkness and disorder to achieve His intended outcome. Genesis 1:2 God called forth creation out of Himself. God achieved what He had hoped to achieve. Genesis 1:31 God achieved His aim God achieved His purposes. God is an achiever. Humanity was originally created in God's image and likeness through Adam, which Adam lost and Jesus restored. You are created to achieve your intended target- your dreams, hope, vision, imagination. You are created to achieve your aim. You are created to achieve your purposes. You are an achiever. Genesis 1:26-28 It may seem like you have nothing today but that is a good place to start from. It may seem like your life is full of disorder today but disorder can be converted to order with God. If you have God you have it all. Make sure Go...

The Jesus Wine

John 2:1-11 Our text passage reveals Jesus turning water into wine. When we ponder on this we realize it is miraculous. The timing was miraculous, the miracle happened just in time. It happened at a good enough time to avoid embarrassment for the bridegroom. Jesus is never late, and His miracles occur in perfect timing. The wine Jesus produced came after after a first wine was served, it came last. Jesus came to earth after Adam. Adam was the first man to be made, Jesus is the last Adam. We inherited an earthly nature from Adam, while we receive a divine/heavenly nature from Jesus Christ. As the first wine at that wedding was not as sweet as the second wine which came from Jesus, our second nature produced in us by the Holy Spirit through salvation in Jesus Christ is sweeter than our first nature which we have received from Adam. This second nature, this divine nature is what makes us the salt of the earth. It gives us a new and better flavor. In Christ Jesus our nature is made b...
