1 Thessalonians 5:18,19
Thanksgiving to God is meant to be a way of life for the follower of Jesus Christ, it is the Christian's way of life.
It is the will of God for us, it should be our default response to God in every situation and circumstance.
We have every reason to be grateful and thankful.
It is possible to be grateful and thankful despite the odds stacked against us and the challenges we face in this life.
John 15:11
Life will present you with reasons why you shouldn't be grateful and thankful, you will experience physical evidence that doesn't look favorable.
Despite this, if your perspective is right you will give God thanks.
There are always reasons to give God thanks and there is more working for you than against you.
Part of the enemy's tactic is to hinder you from seeing and understanding that.
Those who give God the thanks He deserves are often fewer than those who give Him thanks daily.
The path of gratitude and thanksgiving is the path of the narrow way.
Matthew 7:13,14
Unfortunately, people focus more on what seems not to be working over what is going right in their lives.
That's not how to remain on the narrow way and that is not how to remain grateful to God.
Our focus matters.
The kingdom way is the way of joy.
Romans 14:18
Prayer is not complete without thanksgiving to God.
It is rude to go into God's presence to ask, demand, and make enquiries without thanking Him.
God is a living personality with emotions but we forget that at times.
Deuteronomy 9:8
Exodus 34:14
Jesus showed us a pattern of thanksgiving in His earthly ministry:
(1) Before He raised Lazarus from the dead He gave thanks.
John 11:40-44
(2) Before He fed over 5000 people with 5 loaves of bread and two fish, He gave thanks.
Matthew 14:17-21
(3) He showed us a pattern of appreciating God in the Lord's prayer.
Matthew 6:9-13
(4) He accepted and blessed the thanksgiving/gratitude of the only leper who came to give thanks among the 10 lepers he healed.
Luke 17:17-19
Thanksgiving is evidence of faith and it shows our humility.
It is the humble God gives grace to.
Thanksgiving shows we are not self dependent but rely on God and acknowledge all good things come from Him.
