John 10:27
Hearing God's voice is very important to our life and destiny.
Jesus likened His followers to sheep, and He referred to Himself as the Shepherd.
It is the duty of shepherds to lead, direct and protect the sheep.
They lead the sheep to the place of pasture and streams of water.
A good shepherd will have the interest of his sheep at heart.
Shepherds can be sacrificial, risking their lives to protect the sheep by fighting off wild animals like wolves, bears, snakes and other predators who would like to have the shepherds sheep for a meal.
Jesus is the Shepherd of our souls.
He is the chief shepherd, the good shepherd, the true shepherd who has given His all for our safety, blessings, and protection.
Our direction, guidance, and leading will come from God's voice.
God speaks!
In God's voice your instruction is found.
Instructions make us prosper, especially if the instruction is from God.
Proverbs 16:20
Your own unique and exclusive instruction will be given to you if you develop the skill of hearing God's voice.
Your personal covenant with God is activated by hearing and obeying God's voice.
Our breakthrough will come about by hearing God's voice and obeying it.
2 Samuel 5:17-25
Learning to hear God is one of our major responsibilities after our salvation.
God speaks to His people, believers.
The believer can hear God, the potential to hear God is there.
If a follower of God is not hearing God's voice, it's not because God is not communicating.
It is more likely the individual needs to make some adjustments to hear God.
The person who prospers the most in God's kingdom is not the person who prays the most or fasts the most, it is the person who hears God and obeys that prospers best.
If we don't hear God's voice, it's not God's fault it's ours.
There is an attentiveness that's required to hearing God's voice.
We have to be intentional about hearing God's voice.
Distractions are a reason we may miss God's voice.
Our not being attentive is a reason we may miss God's voice.
Our not expecting God to speak to us is a reason we may miss God's voice.
We hear God's voice better in stillness.
1 Kings 19:11-13
The distractions of the day make a lot of thoughts flow through our minds, this can hinder our attention to God's voice when it comes to us.
Psalm 46:10
Daily cares, fears, responsibilities, and worries cloud our sensitivity to God's communication.
David was a man who allowed God to teach him, it means he heard God.
Psalm 144:1
David had an ability most people don't talk about or notice.
David had a remarkable ability to hear God's voice.
It was the key to his breakthrough.
David knew how to be still before the Lord, even with the distractions of warfare and the burden of leadership.
1 Samuel 30:6-8
David never allowed pressure to hinder his attentiveness to God's voice.
The enemy know that if we miss God's voice we can miss our breakthrough, we can miss our recovery.
This is why the enemy brings the heat, the attacks, the distractions.
He wants you to miss God's voice.
Don't be ignorant of the enemy's attempts.
Don't be a victim of the enemy's devices.
2 Corinthians 2:11
Hearing God's voice is the start of your breakthrough.
Your breakthrough comes by hearing and obeying God's voice!
