Proverbs 14:12
That a thing seems right doesn't mean it's right.
That we believe a thing is right doesn't mean it's right.
That we are on a path doesn't mean we are on the right path.
Assuming can have it's dangers.
We are not meant to build our lives on assumptions.
Life is not meant to be assumed.
Absalom assumed his coup will succeed and Ahithophael assumed his counsel will work as usual. Both of them failed.
Absalom and Ahithophael both assumed wrongly.
God wants us living with assurance, confidence, conviction, and principles.
Faith is an assurance.
Hebrews 11:1
Faith is confidence in God.
Faith is trust in God.
God wants us to live lives of assurance, confidence, and trust.
Confidence in who God is.
Assurance of God's promises.
And total trust in God.
This is how God wants us to live.
The way God wants His children to live is the opposite of living a life of assumption.
Assuming has destroyed many glorious destinies.
Assumptions have led many souls to hell.
When you assume there is no God when there is, you may not like where you will find yourself in eternity.
When you assume an enemy is your friend, that enemy may have prevailed against you before you realize it.
God has not called us to a life of assumption.
People who make decisions by assuming rather than knowing will be deceived.
Many men have married the wrong wife because they assumed wrongly.
Many women have ended up on the bed of the wrong man because they assumed foolishly.
Many people have invested wrongly in the wrong career for their lives due to assumptions, only to have regrets.
There are parents who have messed up their children's lives due to wrong decisions based on assumptions when raising their children and when guiding them.
This is why we need the Holy Spirit and must be sensitive to Him.
John 14:26
To assume is to think a thing is right when it is wrong. It's a terrible way to live.
God doesn't want us living our lives based on guess work, trial and error, or assumptions.
This is part of the reason God has given us His Spirit who teaches us, prompts us, guides us, reminds us and directs us.
