A Heart For God

Psalm 42:1

David the king got the testimony from God that he is a man after God's heart.
This is a great commendation and one of the greatest praises God has made about a man.
It is a honor for God to call a human being a man after God's heart.
Acts 13:22
This shows the state of our heart is what matters most.

Why did God call David the son of Jesse a man after His heart?
God had made that statement about David before David the shepherd boy became David the king.
People promoted by God have the right heart before their promotion comes.
David received this testimony from the God of all creation because God looked into his heart and God liked what He saw in David's heart.

If God looks into your heart today, what will He see?

What did God see in the young shepherd boys heart?
*God saw a heart that loves Him, God saw a heart that pants for Him, God saw a heart that's chasing after Him.
Psalm 42:1
Do you chase after God, do you love God, do you pant and thirst for more of God?
When your heart changes, every other thing changes around you.
Ezekiel 36:26-33

*David became qualified for His destiny - the kingship because His heart towards God was right.
The heart matter is the heart of the matter.
The scriptures has a lot to say about the heart.
It is in the heart that faith is produced.
Hebrews 4:2
It is in the heart the true picture of who a person is, is revealed.
The heart is what God looks at when relating with man.
1 Samuel 16:7
The heart is where the issues of life is generated.
Proverbs 4:23
The quality of your life has a lot to do with the state of your heart.
Psalm 14:1

Before you go into business with a person, ask God to reveal the heart of that person to you.
Before you marry anyone, ask God to show you the heart of your prospect.
A wise and discerning heart was what Solomon asked God for, it changed His life for the better.
1 Kings 3:9

How do we develop a heart for God?
1) Salvation - at salvation God does a work within us, it starts from the heart.
Romans 10:10

2) Ask God - ask God to do a work in your heart or give you a change of heart.
John 14:13

3) Meditate on the Word - the Word has a transforming effect on our mind or heart.
Romans 12:2

4) Focus on inspirational stories of God's acts - when we read about or hear the testimonies of God's goodness and power, our heart is inspired, strengthened and encouraged.
Habakkuk 3:2, Judges 6:13

Your Father Hears

Matthew 6:5,6 Prayer should be directed to the Father. Jesus showed this when He taught His disciples the Lord's prayer. It should be a great comfort to you to know that the creator and God of all hears you when you pray. This should encourage you to pray and keep praying. In our day to day relationships with people our communication will reduce towards those who don't pay attention when we're talking to them. The good thing about God is that He is never distracted. Know you have His attention when you pray . He can be communicated with. He hears, He created the ears. Psalm 94:9 Jesus encouraged prayer. Matthew 26:40 Jesus taught prayer. Luke 11:1,2 If Jesus prayed, you will need to pray. Why Should You Pray? *Pray because prayer brings God's intervention. Isaiah 38:5,6 *Pray because that's how you are authorized to communicate with God. 1 Thessalonians 15:16-18 *Pray because it is a major way of birthing God's will on earth. 1 Kings 18...

Out Of The Ashes

Isaiah 61:3 Ashes are not seen as useful substances. Ashes are waste that's thrown away. Ashes are what is left after a substance is burnt out. Your life may seem like ashes right now but something good and beautiful can come out of it when it's given to God. You may feel like an ash yourself. You may be feeling burnt out from unpleasant experiences of the past, the previous week, the last Month , or the the last year and life's battles may have left you burnt out. Know that out of your ashes can come beauty! God is the one who gives us beauty for ashes. God can make you and your life beautiful! Don't make the ashes your permanent state. God can make your season of ashes work out into a season of glory for you. Romans 8:28 The phoenix is a mystical and fictional bird that burns out after living for about six centuries. After burning itself out it rises from it's ashes renewed, youthful and revitalized to live through another life cycle. Like the p...
