Matthew 2:1,2
The star that was seen in the sky by the wise men in this Bible passage was no ordinary star.
The way it shined by day and by night was unusual.
This star was a moving star, it wasn't stagnant or fixed like all the other stars of the sky.
I believe this is why we put stars at the top of the Christmas trees.
This star was unusual because it is a star of an usual man.
It is the star of a king.
It is a star of a man born king of the Jews and king of the angels.
It is the star of a man who came to earth to save and deliver you and I by His own death and with His own blood.
The death of Jesus Christ happened on a cross or a tree.
So in a sense the Christmas tree represents us, the spiritual plants of God who have been raised up to glory.
Jesus came to glorify us His people.
What does Jesus's glorifying us mean?
1) Our Lord decorates our life.
This is why we decorate the Christmas tree.
Malachi 3:17
2) Our Lord makes our life brighter.
John 1:9
3) Our Lord makes our life prosperous.

The tree is another word for cross in the scripture since the cross He hung on was wooden, carved out from a tree.
Trees have a very positive representation/symbolism in the Bible.
I believe this is where the concept of the Christmas tree comes from.
Exodus 15:25 - a tree brought sweetness to a bitter situation.
Isaiah 61:3, Isaiah 60:21, John 15:1-5 - we are called the planting of the Lord, trees are plants.

God's people are referred to as spiritual plants in the Bible.
Hebrews 2:10 - Jesus came to raise sons to glory.
Ephesians 5:23 - Jesus is the head of His body. His spiritual plants.

3) Our Lord makes our life prosperous.
Prosperity is an aspect of God's glory.
Decorated Christmas trees are symbolic of prosperity.
May God decorate your life!
4) Our king makes us shine.
Daniel 12:3
Christmas trees shine beautifully because of the Christmas lights and decoration we put on them.
