As we journey through life, we will need training for some of the things we will have to do in life.
That's where teachers, mentors and guides come in.
God knows the importance of training and mentorship, and He makes arrangement for it.
It's part of God's blessing to us, when we have a teacher, a mentor or guide over us, who shows us the 'ropes' and teaches us what we need to know in the area where we need it.
Mentorship gives us speed and helps us avoid mistakes we would otherwise have made, all the knowledge, wisdom and experience of the mentor is passed on to the protege to help the protege on his journey and assignment.
Paul mentored Timothy, Elijah was a father to Elisha, Jesus mentored, trained and guided the twelve disciples until He departed from the earth and the Holy Spirit became to the disciplines what Jesus was to them when He in the flesh.
The Holy Spirit is our true and ultimate guide and mentor
Everything we do should be guided and directed by Him. Our ministries should be crafted by the Holy Spirit Himself. The Holy Spirit does this through the hands of a human being, the man/woman He has given the vision for the ministry.
The Holy Spirit is the power behind genuine ministries and individuals who are genuinely called.
Genuine calls come about by divine appointments not personal ambitions, church politics, human ideas, appointments by Pastors, general overseers or church denominations.
Once a minister has been called of God and the call has been discovered, He has to yield to God's Spirit to know what to do and how God wants him/her to do it. Anyone called of God will be gifted by God for the assignment. (1 Corinthians 12)
A minister of the gospel can go to a Bible school if God instructs him or her to do so, though I have an issue with most Bible schools and Pastoral training centres these days. Many of them are set up by churches, individuals or missions who have sentiments towards their own doctrine, and this is what most of them propagate through their Bible schools, yet the Bible tells us there is no private interpretation of scripture. This is why I prefer to work with the Holy Spirit rather than doing things purely by what and how people have told me to do.We don't see any Bible school or Pastor training college in scripture. The reason for this is because God Himself has His own school He takes people through. Its not necessarily the four walls of an institution like we see with Bible colleges. It's a school of life and reality where God trains His generals for the task ahead. The call of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit is what is necessary to succeed in ministry. There are many who have gone to Bible schools but have made a ship wreck of their faith and their ministries! However, not all Bible schools are the same. If God points you in the direction of a good Bible school, then go. My emphasis is that we should do only what the Holy Spirit instructs us, and what the Holy Spirit instructs us to do will not be against God's Word, for God'sWord and God's Spirit work together.
I can't pin point Bible schools in the scripture. Neither should a Bible school take the place of the Holy Spirit in an individuals life.
However I can trace schools of prophets in the Bible
A school of prophets is different from a Bible school. Schools of prophets are purely for those who have prophetic callings, there are things prophets need to know, there are prophetic insights and discipline.S there were schools of prophets and sons of the prophets in scripture.
Elisha was a head of a school of prophets, and prophet Samuel was the chief prophet or master prophet in a prophetic school in Ramah
There are many people in Bible schools and taking Bible courses, not because God instructed them to do so, but because they want a certificate to boost their reputation and help their self esteem. How misguided!
There are many two faced Pastors these days who don't uphold God's Word anymore. They have become sissys who prioritize people and the laws of the land over the Word of God.
Many Bible schools have succeeded in producing a generation of false Pastors and ministers who are no longer dependent on the Holy Spirit but the words of a general overseer, pastors, founder or whatever title we wish to call an individual who founded a church.
There are many false prophets, false pastors and uninspired ministries these days. We are in the end times!
A church is a public place, a place where everyone and anyone should be free to come to, to learn and grow in the things of God like the earthly ministry of Jesus. A church is not a place we come to, to discuss petty and trivial issues at the expense of God's Word and instructions. A church is not a cult that people join and are not permitted to leave. A church should not be a personal business where the overseer manipulates and controls people, a church is not a place where politics is played, and where rivalry and competition is the order of the day. Churches should not manipulate and manouver people or God's doctrine to make people stay. A church is not where we are to be brain washed, and closed up in support of individual views and doctrines without knowing the Word of God.A church is not about denominations, sects and liturgies.
A church ministry should be about God's Word, God's love and a community of fellowship for God'speople and the public who wish to join them. A ministry is not a place where we wear uniforms and all look alike and seem alike, and ostracise and despise people whose traditions, values and dressing is different from ours.
A church ministry is a place where diversity is seen and appreciated, where uniqueness is encouraged and godliness and holiness is upheld!
