Genesis 17:1
At the age of ninety-nine years old, God appears to Abraham and tells Abraham to walk before Him and be perfect.
The word perfect in this passage of scripture is from the Hebrew word 'vehyehthamim' which means sincerity, uprightness.
Sincerity is like perfection, uprightness before God.
God wants our prayers to be sincere.
To be sincere is to have an absence of pretence.
A sincere person is not a hypocrite.
God frowns at hypocrisy.
Matthew 23:13-25
Hypocrisy often got on Jesus's nerves.
Matthew 6:1
Jesus asked us not to be like the hypocrites when we pray.
So, there's hypocritical prayers and sincere prayers.
Matthew 6:5
To be sincere is to have an absence of deceit.
Some people think they can deceive God in the place of prayer but God is not mocked.
Galatians 6:7
A sincere prayer is the kind of prayer made knowing we are not not better than others or more righteous than others but we all come into God's presence to obtain grace.
Luke 18:9-14
A sincere prayer is honest prayer.
It is prayer made telling God how we feel, think and what we desire.
It is prayer we make, telling God what is in our heart.
The books of Psalms show us many of the thoughts of David in God's presence.
They show us David was a very sincere man before God.
The Psalms is full of the many stages and times of David's life where he honestly pours his heart out to God.
From wanting to kill his enemies or wanting them cursed or dead, to his fears, his indecisions, his gratitude and appreciations, his observations and discoveries, he poured it all out to God.
These are the kind of prayers God wants from us.
